Group Research Project

The group project was completed by Emily, Lorelai, and myself. We assigned tasks based on which sections of the literature review we had written in the original literature review completed prior to this project. The subject at hand was maternal healthcare, with a special emphasis on maternal mortality, abortion, and the disparities amongst women of color, especially black women. In the literature review, I focused on the socioeconomic factors regarding maternal healthcare and how these factors play a role in the overall quality of the communities referenced. To elicit this information, we created a website in the style of a Public Awareness Campaign.

The webpage opens with a title page, following by a description and goal of the organization. The website also features testimonials from women with actual negative experiences going through the current healthcare system in the country. These stories are related to maternity, abortion, childcare, etc. Blog posts and relevant stories are also included adding more information as such. Lorelai created two infographics in the original website about maternal and infant mortality, and another one about abortion laws in different states. Emily and I split the tasks of explaining each infographic and highlighting each key point. At the bottom of the website, there are links to various social media platforms of the organization and the location of the home office, which we put as the CUNY City College address. Below, you will find the final group presentation based on the group project/website.
